After more than 20 years in the transportation engineering industry, Helen Schorr is still wondering how she ended up in the world of engineering. Helen’s decidedly liberal arts background in broadcasting, film and journalism (including a degree in Radio & Television from San Francisco State University) provided a not-so-direct path to her current role.
As a founding Principal of the firm and Director of Operations, Helen oversees the day-to-day business of the firm and is integral in the overall strategic growth and planning of the company. She is directly responsible for marketing and business development, contracts, legal administration, project budgets, invoicing, tax reporting/returns, appraisals, stock transfers, lease negotiations, insurance, accounting, and financial reporting. If it has a dollar sign in front of it, Helen can tell you where it came from, where it’s going, and how and why it’s getting there. Helen is also responsible for office administration and human resources, including recruiting, employee management, payroll, 401(k) and health insurance contracting and administration, and is committed to making Gibson Transportation Consulting an inclusive and engaging place to work.
And she’s even able to put that journalism experience to use in the technical editing of project deliverables.
